Summer time is often the occasion to take a step back and think about the global picture. Are you thinking about rolling out a planning and scheduling solution in a fast, consistent, and effective way across your factories landscape?
3DS has a great track record in global rollouts. Without entering in the details of the methodologies and technologies, here are 3 key general best practices to make it happen:
PARAMETRIC:
- About core models configurations and ERP or MES integrations, “Parametric” is the best practice. Not leaving any room for hard coded specificities (model design, data management, interfaces) will allow to copy-paste the solution from your pilot plant to the others by only adjusting the parameters to the new plant specificities, and limiting the deployment efforts to operations and user ramp up on the new way of working.
CORPORATE SUPPORT:
- Purchasing licenses and services is not enough to deliver, you need build a corporate team to drive your project across both the IT and Operations dimensions. Your team does not have to be big but must be able to manage the first level of support on the solution topics (model, integration, utilization) and on the operations topics as well (plants readiness assessment, gaps analysis and reduction action plans, users enablement).
COMPREHENSIVE USER GUIDES:
- When rolling out, among all the change management actions and deliverables of the project, make the user training and utilization guides documents a priority. When implementing a pilot project, users usually ramp up thanks to spending time with consultants. When rolling out massively, project plans need to be “turn key” and a comprehensive documentation of the processes and workflows in the applications – on top of the corporate team support – will be key assets to support the users during their training and go live period.
Those are high-level comments of course, at 3DS we stay available to deep dive and help if you are considering rolling out your DELMIA planning and scheduling solutions. Do not hesitate to connect with us if it is the case, stay safe, and have a good summer :-)
