I want to take a moment to recognize the R&D team for the outstanding work on the new Machine Surface Functionality introduced in FD01. This is a feature that machinists and programmers have needed for a long time, and it delivers exactly where it matters.
In many other systems, creating a drive surface means jumping into CAD and knowing how to untrim, extend, or even build new surfaces, tasks that are often outside the scope of a machinist or NC programmer. With this new functionality, that complexity disappears. In just a few simple steps, we can now create and manage a clean, usable surface directly within the Manufacturing Cell.
A few key benefits really stand out:
Fast creation of toolpath‑ready surfaces without requiring CAD expertise
No impact on the original physical product, keeping design data intact
Surfaces remain within the Manufacturing Cell, ensuring proper data protection and governance
I’ve been working with Machine Surface creation for about a week now, and I’m genuinely impressed with how intuitive and effective it is. This is a thoughtful, well‑executed enhancement that will make a real difference in day‑to‑day programming workflows.
Thank you to everyone involved for the hard work and attention to detail. Looking forward to what comes next.
