Hello
Thanks to the UCODS community as well as to @YS who allowed me to join the 3D Innovator Tribe program and to test the x3D Design application.
Before the trial period ends, I share with you my thoughts on creating geometry.
CATIA V5 and Solidworks user, I have not encountered any difficulties in getting started.
When creating assembly, parts, we quickly find the controls we use on a daily basis.
The big difference is above all the graph ( history tree) the absence of a branch as in CATIA V5 (Boolean operation) or of a folder in SW where you can directly access the (CATIA body of parts, SW solid body).
Personally it's missing, I haven't found a solution other than to Hide / Show solid bodies.
Handling and graphic selection are good. I appreciate the same SW selection of hidden edges very practical for chamfer / fillets.
When the model gets complex the geometry computation times are roughly similar to those I encounter under CATIA and SW (I don't have an exceptional workstation either).
It's just a little frustrating unlike a local application, you can't tell if it's stuck (Ctrl / alt / sup / Task Manager) or if it's going around in circles.
I will try to share two models with the community, the first a topical assembly, the second an identical reconstruction (sketch, function, body, etc.) of one of our CATIA V5 models.
Happy new year to everyone
