I'm pleased to explain the demo we present at Hannover Messe this year.
We presented our "New demonstrator of flexible manufacturing line".
One spot on our booth was dedicated to the Virtual Commissioning, but showing another aspect of what we did until now.
For most people, Virtual commissioning is "just" debugging a PLC program by connecting it to a simulator. We can do more !
In this demo, we demonstrate how, by coupling CATIA ControlBuild to the 3DEXPERIENCE, we can perform MIL/SIL at an early stage of the life cycle development of a system.
In this Experience, with have three stakeholders :
- 3DEXPERIENCE with the DELMIA robotic programs executing the real trajectories of the robots. These programs will be uploaded in the real robot controllers (SIL).
- A fleet manager of Omron, managing 2 virtual AMRs. But the embedded softwares of the fleet manager and the AMRs are the same than in the reals (SIL).
- CATIA ControlBuild used as a virtual PLC. It allows, thank to the IEC 1131-3 languages, to create an automation of the system without to know witch kind of PLC will be used. It also allows to debug and to optimize the strategy of management and coordination of the robot and the AMRs.
By making this, we can have a system approach by grouping all the stakeholders of the project (automations, robotics, mechanicals, process, customers....)
The benefits are :
- Permit to start integration of software at an early stage of the project (before to have the physical cell and device)
- Test and evaluate the automation strategy
- Validate the trajectories and the behaviors of the AMRs
- Test the integration of the robots programs, especially the embedded robots
- Validate the time cycle in function of the strategy applied
- Create critical situation or failures without any risk
Here is a first video showing the demo itself.
Secondly, here is an interview with @OR explaining the values of the demo.
A big thank to @LS and @AC for their big contribution to achieve this Experience.
