Strange Loops is a brain-computer interface that turns emotional states into colorful lights. As the electrical activity of the brain is amplified by EEG, the mask reveals and augments the feelings of the wearer. By externalizing the inner world, it creates a new language of the imperceptible.
I designed the mask from a 3D scan of my head with CATIA XGenerative Design. It was built upon Neurosky’s ThinkGear ASIC Module (TGAM), Ag/AgCl dry electrodes, optic fibers, addressable LED strips and Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) 3D printing.
The optic fibers color varies in accordance with the power spectrum peaks, that are correlated with change of emotional states. Moreover, an animation of the lights is triggered such as blinking or waving once a threshold is reached in attention and meditation, respectively.
Thank you @SR for mentoring my CATIA learning. This was my first project with this software.
Made in the 3DEXPERIENCE Lab in Vélizy.
