With the availability of 3DEXPERIENCE R2019X FD01, collaboration is enhanced between users taking advantage of Social Collaboration Services / CATIA V5 thanks to the new Share Folder / Add to my File capability provided by 3DDrive, allowing automatic synchronization of folder content between users.
Hereafter is a short scenario demonstrating how to use this new functionality to ease the collaboration.
Going into some details, in a first step, a Mechanical Engineer (AD), connected to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and working on a new flying wing drone, share a folder with one of his colleague, an Electronic Engineer (PC).
Using 3DMessaging , he is also able to exchange with his colleague to explain him what he is waiting for (here the instantiation of the electronic equipment of the drone).
On his side, the Electronic Engineer can retrieved the shared folder and its data, and then add this folder inside its own 3DDrive one.
The content of this folder is then automatically synchronized, thanks to 3DDrive on the cloud, between both engineers PC. Each time the Mechanical Engineer add, remove or modify one or several data on his side, the Electronic Engineer automatically benefit of these modifications. And vice versa.
In our scenario here, after opening data provided by the Mechanical Engineer, the Electronic Engineer put in place the electronic equipment in the fuselage of the drone.
In the same time, the Mechanical Engineer go on working on his design, adding the wings of the drone.
Notified by the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and Informed by the Electronic Engineer that the electronic components are in place, the Mechanical Engineer is then able to open all the data, the mechanical and the electronic ones, to check that everything is ok.
The Electronic Engineer is able on his side to do the same operation, thanks to the automatic synchronization of the data in 3DDrive on the cloud.
