As I was searching in the database for EIN I discovered few thing that might help you...

EIN definition

Let say that my EIN definition is as bellow:

So when I use the function to define the EIN I have the following dialog box:

I can change the preference to show the EIN in CATIA:

After I save and wait for the indexing I start searching

Searching for EIN

If I search for 12345 I have no result

but if I search for 123456 I have my result

So it seems partial search on EIN does not work as it does on Title

if I search for zzz I have no result

but search for zzzz does provide a result

searching -ZZZZ will not find the result as searching with - actually remove matching objects from the result.

so searching -zzzz will exclude anything that does have "zzzz" and this is the EIN I am looking for!

but searching zzzz-MMMM will work

Again ZZZZ-MMM will have no result

searching -ZZZ will provide more but will include my product

as expected searching -ZZZZ will exclude the file I'm looking for

Remember the sections of the EIN and either fill a full section

or part of it with * or ? to complete the number of character in the section

You can ask 3DX to search only for EIN (and not everything, like title, description...) using the following format:
