Overview
CATIA Structural Package Design workbench enable user to design a Carton pack. Panel on Edge (POE) is a feature which allow to create a panel of a specific shape. Based on the type of geometry required, user can choose the shape of panel necessary for pack creation.
Requirement
Before 3DExperience R2019x, it was only possible to create POE from a single edge selection. If a user had to create more such POEs for designing a pack, then he/she has to launch a separate POE command each time. With this function, the capability of POE is extended to multiple edge selection. Now a user is capable to create multiple instances of any shaped panel (with same parameters) in a pack, thanks to Multi POE enhancement available in CATIA Structural Package Design.
Detailed Specifications
Panel on Edge feature is available in the Model section of the action bar in Structural Package Design app.
In POE, a multi selector is provided against Edge option to manage the edges. When it is selected, an additional panel Element List pops out, which allow to delete or replace the already selected edges.
Once the POE command is launched, select the type of Panel from the combo, multi select the required edges and other input parameters to define the panel. All the panels created out of multi selection have common parameters as defined in the dialog. There is only one Panel on Edge.x feature in spec-tree for all the created POEs.
In case of a Shaped type POE, the sketch used to create a POE is not duplicated over the other edges, whereas only the shape is transformed.
Note: The Multi POE creation is possible only for Standard, Triangular, Shaped and Trapezoidal type of POE.
