Did you know? 🌍 While mountainous regions host about 50% of the world's plant and animal species, they are increasingly threatened by climate change and human activities. The promotion of biological diversity in these areas is crucial, as it supports over 15% of the global population and provides freshwater to half of humanity. INTRODUCTION:
WHY THE NAME "NILGIRI"?
The name "Nilgiri" draws inspiration from the breathtaking real location of the Nilgiri Mountains, nestled in the Western Ghats of India. Revered for their lush biodiversity and captivating blue-hued vistas, these peaks are a sanctuary of rare flora and fauna. "नीलगिरि" (Nilgiri), translating to "Blue Mountains," not only encapsulates the scenic beauty but also symbolizes our commitment to sustainability and preserving the delicate mountain ecosystem. As a revered Sanskrit shloka suggests,
"सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः, सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः।" (Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah, Sarve Santu Niramayah) - may all beings be happy, may all beings be healthy - echoing our ethos to ensure a harmonious coexistence with nature in these sacred mountains.
