Mr Baojun YU is responsible for the body CAE analysis of Hongqi products at China FAW Research and Development Institute. The Hongqi car, produced since 1958, has become a state vehicle for Chinese leaders and major national events. From 2018, the new strategy also includes the gradual realization of global exports.
Mr @BY conducts body lightweight technology research and related application work, such as body performance optimization.
Mr Yu explains that Concept Engineering is an approach starting from an implicit model, without input of detailed geometry. Nevertheless parameters allow this model to support structural adjustments, on the beam for example. The benefit of this approach, which has been based on CATIA SFE solutions since 2017, is an early and rapid optimization of body performance, even if the corresponding simulation is multi-disciplinary and has several objectives.
As a result,
- A shorter cycle of body CAE analysis
- An accelerated achievement of lightweight goals
- Product development sped up

The China FAW Research and Development Institute was represented by Mr. Hongjun HE, on behalf of Mr. Baojun Yu, at the CHINA Concept Engineering Community Day on June 29 in Shanghai. Mr. HE, Chief Engineer of Body Durability Simulation from FAW, presented the "Lightweight design of a Hongqi Vehicle based on SFE CONCEPT Solution".
