Mapping attributes in the various Connectors is much the same from the platform side but differs across each CAD solution as they all have their own nuances driven by differing functionalities. I recently had a question on the basics of setting up attributes so I thought I would expand on that here in more detail for the broader user community of CATIA V5 users. I will focus on Parts but the same would be true of Products.
Before we get started I would like to note that I created the material below on the public cloud (R2021x FD06) connected to CATIA V5 B30 HF9. Also note that the topic of attribute mapping for CATIA V5 is covered in the documentation under Installation and Setup | Install | Social and Collaborative | 3DEXPERIENCE Open | Collaborative Design | Design with CATIA V5 | Attribute Mapping
Let’s look at the basic steps. From within Platform Management, we validate and/or define the attributes we will need. Let’s map two system attribute (Volume & Material), a custom attribute (Finish Spec) and a parameter (Shaft_Radius01) for a total of four for this exercise. The thought with this last one is to expose part family parameters as eventual search criteria.
To accomplish this we will create & apply them within Platform Management. Note that I used Real to define Shaft_Radius01 which allows me to apply a unit to that attribute.
Noting the rules from the documentation below...
We next access xCAD PLM Collaboration for CATIA V5 and map & apply the values to the CAD application.
To complete the mapping on the platform side you need to Deploy the new changes to the system. For just your local environment, choose Reload Server Cache, for everyone using CATIA V5 choose Update Index Model with Added or Removed Attributes.
Shutdown and restart CATIA V5 with a Part from the platform making sure that the IEF process is not running on the Task Bar.
Launch the CATIA V5 session from the platform...
Within CATIA V5, we would have the following system attributes mapped.
Volume and Material
And the following users attribute...
Finish_Spec
Finally we have the parameter (Shaft_Radius01) which I have renamed to match the previous mapping using CATIA V5 Tools> Formulas...
Once saved to the platform, we see the results in the mapped output of these 4 attributes in the 3DEXPERIENCE property sheet...
