🛫JEC World 2023 | Watch the replay of the conference with Vertical Aerospace and Olivier Sappin to discover how they anwser sustainable aviation challenges

We were very happy to welcome @Nicolas Dupont-Zaccarin, Mechanical project team leader at Vertical Aerospace, in charge of the design of the Composite Pylon , during the international event jecworld2023, at the end of April (see previous post).

@OS, CATIA CEO at @DS, interviewed him about how composites help Vertical Aerospace massively reduce the weight of their aircraft. Indeed, Vertical Aerospace has explored technologies from motorsport, aeronautics and energy to design their evTOL. With an aircraft structure made of 95% composites, it supports decarbonization for short-haul travels

In general, a virtual twin is needed to master the overall weight of the aircraft and to control its center of gravity. Also, the pylon is a key feature, due to the aerodynamic impact, the massive load introduced by the blades. It's then even more important to collaborate on the platform with all stakeholders.

To achieve the next level of design maturity, from the MSN1 to MNS2 version, the 3DEXPERIENCE  environment made it easy to get feedback from manufacturing suppliers. They could participate in Concept Design Reviews without having to exchange data. Things can be drafted very quickly. And with everything recorded, it's easier to loop check for faster release.

As a result, UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) issued its first eVTOL Design Organisation Approval (DOA) to Vertical Aerospace, underlining regulatory confidence.

Discover how Vertical Aerospace reached this approval while reducing the environmental footprint thanks to the power of Composites Design & Simulation 3DExperience solutions
