How to import a terrain file

To import a terrain file to the 3DEXPERIENCE, you first have to launch the Terrain Preparation application.

Then go to “Import – Terrain File”. Now click on “Import a file” and select the file you want to import.

In the “Import” pop-up window select the ASCII RGB format to get a cloud of points. Furthermore, you can adjust the sampling and the scale factor.

You can see at the end of the video an example of a Terrain file format.

The GeoLab is an innovation center that provides technological tools to UniLaSalle students in order to develop educational or research projects in geosciences.

The themes we are working on are the 3D modeling (micrometer crystal to kilometric field model), digital simulation, 3D printing, analog modeling, Serious Games design, bio-mimicry, virtual / augmented / mixed reality, big data, photogrammetry, etc.

You can follow our activity on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/GeoLabUniLaSalle/and our YouTube channel : http://www.youtube.com/c/GéoLabUniLaSalle

Do not hesitate to contact us if you have a project idea that could involve GeoLab and UniLaSalle students.
