To create an extrusion, start by creating a plane. Then create a sketch and draw a line or any other geometric shape on that same plane and give it the desired dimensions.
Once the desired shape is drawn, exit the "sketch" app.
Then you have to create a system of axes in order to to get 3 axes. One of them will be used as your extrusion direction.
You can now create your extrusion by choosing the shape you have drawn as a profile and one of the axes previously created as the direction.
You will finally have to define the length of your extrusion.
