H5 Autonomous Shuttle — CATIA Shuttle Contest Submission

CATIA Champion CATIA SHUTTLE CONTEST @Y @FB

Dear CATIA Community,

I am pleased to share my submission for the CATIA Shuttle Contest: H5 — Human-Centered Autonomous Access Platform.

H5 is an inclusive autonomous shuttle concept designed for people whose access to life experiences can be limited by age, disability, fatigue, crowded transport systems, safety concerns, urban barriers or complex mobility environments.

The project started from a real observation: people do not move only to reach a location. They move to participate in life.

For elderly passengers, wheelchair users, people using walkers, parents with baby strollers, tourists and comfort-sensitive passengers, even a short urban journey can become stressful because of steps, narrow boarding areas, sudden acceleration, harsh braking, crowding, noise or lack of personal space.

H5 focuses on access, not only transportation.

It is designed as a low-floor, autonomous and modular shuttle experience for controlled access zones such as fairgrounds, cultural routes, municipal service areas, campuses, hospital zones, event areas and first/last-mile mobility connections.

The main design question behind H5 is:

How can an autonomous shuttle increase independence, comfort, safety and access to meaningful city experiences?

The concept includes:

  • Low-floor access with deployable ramp
  • Flexible Access Cabin for wheelchair, stroller, walker and passenger use
  • Panoramic visibility for confidence and orientation
  • Adaptive directional lighting for autonomous vehicle communication
  • V2X / V2P interaction displays
  • Integrated sensor zones for autonomous operation
  • Solar-assisted auxiliary energy concept
  • Modular skateboard platform logic
  • Structural platform development using CATIA Concept Structure Engineering
  • CATIA / 3DEXPERIENCE workflow from sketch and surface design to assembly, structure, human experience and 3DXML delivery

H5 is not only a vehicle concept. It is the first vehicle expression of a broader human-centered access platform.

Future extensions of the same platform may support different service scenarios, including municipal mobility, cultural tourism, campus transport, event mobility and low-speed urban logistics.

During the final development phase, H5 matured through an intense design and engineering journey across multiple CATIA and 3DEXPERIENCE disciplines.

Throughout this process, I had the opportunity to experience the value of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform as a single source of truth, connecting multiple disciplines from industrial design and product architecture to structural thinking, MODSIM-oriented validation, human experience and final communication.

H5 also helped me explore a human-centered development approach for autonomous mobility: translating real observations and access needs into engineering decisions and CATIA design outputs.

I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in this contest and to experience how CATIA and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform can support the journey from human need to validated design concept.

I would especially like to thank @Yves BARBIER DE LA SERRE and @Fabio BALLARI for creating this opportunity, supporting the CATIA community and encouraging participants to explore new mobility experiences with CATIA and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Thank you to everyone who made this opportunity possible.

Best regards,
Necmi Yıldız
