Some more digging in the Formula 1 2022 regulations as I go through the middle section of the car.
Here I designed the monocoque, sidepod and floor inlet. The floor is mostly different to previous years' with ground effect set to making a reappearance, so there is a pronounced entry design at the front to force air and reduce the pressure significantly in the form of Venturi tunnels.
To control the air direction, strakes have been added and a bow (similar to a bulbous bow seen on ships) to enhance efficiency, and provide room for optimisation. The angle of the floor and diffuser can be changed in a parametric manner to allow for iteration and care needs to be taken to address any stalling occurrences.
Also time was allocated to parametrize the inlet shape of the sidepod, as well as setting a basis for the coke shape and engine cover. Teams may opt in for a planar or an angular leading edge of the sidepod inlet.
