What is the E-way Rescue Roadster ?
At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, a team composed of a product designer, mechanical engineer, and doctor collaborated virtually on a solution to rapidly and safely transport patients from home to hospital. The concept of an autonomous flying rescue vehicle was born. While the project could have halted at the sketch phase, this kernel of inspiration was captured on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud and moved seamlessly to the next phase of the product development lifecycle.
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud is fundamental to design in a collaborative way. Airplanes and flying machines, for example, are challenging multidisciplinary systems, and even though everyone works in their own area of expertise, every decision made affects other subsystems.
There are 3 steps for this project:
- Concept definition: Bring your ideas to life with the most powerful set of solutions for design creativity, surface excellence and product experience.
- Governance and collaboration: Accelerate cross-team collaboration and manage product creation from early planning through development and final release.
- Detailed engineering: Gain insight into key factors of quality and performance early in the product development phase with the 3D modeling tools.
Concept Definition
This week, we start with the first step of the product development process, the concept definition. When challenges arise, it takes creative thinkers to push up against existing constraints and develop innovative solutions. In this video, you will see how to improve efficiency by importing 2D sketches and then using unique 3D sketching technology and ultra fast virtual clay modeling using subdivision surface technology.
