In September, Heritage Day is celebrated in France and Europe. (April is also a date taken in other countries...tell us in comment section when it is observed in your country)
This yearly anniversary day, also known as International Day for Monuments and Sites 🏛, was launched to raise awareness 📢 about the importance of protecting cultural heritage and to celebrate the diversity of the world's heritage.
Objectives of architects has evolved since thousands of years, and sustainability can be
- Space and material optimization
- Use of recycled or second hands materials, and minimize waste
- Comfort
- Reduce consuption of non-renewable resources
- Durability

I like the definition of ‘sustainable development’ set by a United Nations committee:
“the design meeting the needs of humans while preserving the health of planetary life."
We therefore propose the following challenge 👇🏻
What could you design for sustainable infrastructures?
Did you know that?
- It is estimated that over the next 40 years the world will build 230 billion square metres – roughly the area of Paris – in new construction every single week.
- Buildings emit more energy-related carbon than the entire transport sector globally.
- Roughly 80% of buildings standing today will still be around in 2050.
- In Europe, buildings account for 36% of CO2 emissions, and this is just the operational impact, not including the emissions generated during construction.
- The importance of buildings can be seen by the amount of time we spend in them; it is thought that the average person spends 90% of their lifetime indoors.
- By 2030, 70% of the world’s natural habitats could be impacted or destroyed due to population growth, economic activity, or urbanisation, unless we change the way we think and act.

3. If you are a winner (results at the enf of the month on the community) send a message into the Conversation tab to @YS with your postal address 📍, email 📧, and phone number 📱 so we can send you your unique CATIA product among our range of goodies.
You can submit your renderings & 3D Model throughout the month of September (Until September 30 at 11:59 pm UTC).
Winners 🏆 will be selected during the first fortnight of October according to criteria of innovation & sustainability of their achievement using CATIA app which can be a real innovation in the building and infrastructure domain 🏤🏨. A different competition is established between @DS participants and external CATIA users.
