Summary : this story shows the ModeliScale consortium project: motivation, challenges, outcomes and perspectives.
Why making ModeliScale ?
Due to several changes such as energy mix, regulation changes and climate consideration, the vision is to address the evolution of the energy context, to provide answers in multiple facets:
- sonsider that question at the level of districts and cities
- see the energy aspects with multiple facets: several providers and multiple sources, combination of transportation networks, multiple users
- consider the evolution of both production and demand in time and with different scales, from < 1 second to day to season to year
This means a great variety in the ‘energy mix’ : sources, both producers and consumers, with interoperation and evolution in time in a decentralized context and more global market.
What is the answer ?
Related to these questions, there is a high need of Modelling and Simulation (ModSim) of the multiple Energy systems, to support Energy providers and to serve Cities.
Dassault Systemes has chosen for years the Modelica open language to model and simulate the behavior of multi-physics cyber systems. Solutions are proposed in CATIA systems portfolio with tools and libraries, both in standalone and 3DEXPERIENCE platform offers.
Thus, ModeliScale proposal is to bring Modelica language and CATIA systems tools the capability to handle large-scale cyber physical systems.
This objective is composed of 3 big challenges, as described later in this story.
This conducted to a R&D collaborative project, that gathered 8 partners under the lead of Dassault Systemes.
ModeliScale has leveraged on a balanced group of partners, under the coordination of 3DS, with a lead of a Core Group: Dassault Systemes, EDF, Inria.
The collaborative project ran during in [2018, 2021] and followed a common collaborative workplan.
