CATIA Design Contest : Moon DAY 🌝

Hello ,

I would like to share with you here my Project for July Contest

What is armillary sphere ?

"An armillary sphere, historically used as an astronomical instrument, represents the celestial sphere and its celestial circles through a series of interconnected rings."

Why we used it ?

The Armillary Sphere was historically used as an astronomical instrument for various purposes:

  • Celestial Navigation: Before the advent of modern technology, sailors and explorers used armillary spheres to navigate and determine their positions at sea. By aligning the armillary sphere with the stars and other celestial bodies, navigators could find their latitude and approximate longitude.
  • Astronomical Observations: Astronomers used armillary spheres to study the positions and movements of celestial objects such as stars, planets, and the Moon. They could track the motion of these objects across the night sky, predict their positions, and study astronomical phenomena like lunar and solar eclipses.
  • Timekeeping and Calendar: Armillary spheres were used to create accurate calendars based on the positions of the Sun and the Moon. This information was valuable for agricultural planning and religious practices tied to celestial events.
