As we are nearing the end of the year, it’s a great time to relook at the important CATIA Best Practices published in 2022 that you might have missed in some of our promotions.

This is a comprehensive Bulletin of all the CATIA Best Practices published since January 2022 till date. Click on the Name of the Best Practice to download the document

1. Managing Large Assemblies Settings and Recommendations

Large assemblies affect the system performance and make it difficult to visualize and manage data. This Best Practices document discusses the options and settings available on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, which helps the user to optimize performance. Each set addresses a particular pain area. All settings described in this document can be used together.

Applicable Release: 3DEXPERIENCE Platform R2022x.

Target audience: Designers and Reviewers, who work on large assemblies on 3DEXPERIENCE R2020x and above.

2. Enterprise Knowledge Language - Overview and Usage

Enterprise Knowledge Language (EKL) is a programming language in V5 & V6/3DEXPERIENCE. It is intended for the development of smart models or applications and their integration in a more general context.

This Best Practice document provides an overview of the main concepts about the EKL, EKL Capabilities, various functions and tools that are required to work with EKL, and troubleshooting the EKL Code. The objective is to help users get a better understanding of the EKL.

This document also provides some sample examples of using various types of EKL functions that will help the users to get started with EKL.

Applicable Release: CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE R2022x.

Target audience: Designers and Administrators who are looking for information about Enterprise Knowledge Language (EKL).

3. 3DEXPERIENCE On-Premises Native Apps - Customizing the Domain

The administration of CAD/CAM systems is an important responsibility of a system administrator in a design and manufacturing company. This Best Practices document describes a method to install the 3DEXPERIENCE native apps on multiple client computers in a domain. These methods help simplify and eliminate some of the time-consuming installation and customization tasks using a distributed customization scheme that contains all your customization that meets both user and business requirements. Use these methods to eliminate the duplicate work that you normally do on each client computer within the domain.

Applicable Release: 3DEXPERIENCE R2021x On-Premises.

Target audience: PLM Administrators.

4. 3DEXPERIENCE Installation for Native Apps and CAA API

The purpose of this document is to provide basic guidelines to install 3DEXPERIENCE Native Apps and CAA APIs. In this Best Practice, you will learn about 3DEXPERIENCE R2021x Golden Installation- Native Apps and CAA API installation (GA and FP), Configuration of the License server, Getting Started with Visual Studio, and CAA code Compilation, Execution & Debugging.

Applicable Release: 3DEXPERIENCE R2021x.

Target audience: Users getting started with CAA customization.

5. Installation of CATIA V5 and CAA API

The purpose of this document is to provide basic guidelines to install CATIA V5 and CAA APIs. In this Best Practice, you will learn about CATIA V5 Installation, Configuration of the License server, Getting Started with Visual Studio, and CAA code Compilation, Execution & Debugging.

Applicable Release: V5-6R2021.

Target audience: Users getting started with CAA customization.

6. Data Setup for Structure Apps

The purpose of this best practice is to make data setup for the structure app user-friendly for beginners and provide useful maps to the official documentation for seeking deeper knowledge and better understanding. In this document, you will get an overview of Data Setup Apps, Structure Library Resource, and Common Resource Geometry.

Applicable Release: 3DEXPERIENCE R2020x.

Target audience: People discovering data setup for structure apps in the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform such as Administrator, Tech Support Engineers, Customers/Partners, and Field Engineers.

7. Concurrent Engineering with 3DEXPERIENCE

This Best Practice document demonstrates the concurrent engineering capability of 3DEXPERIENCE with the help of different use cases. This document covers the use of different commands available in the Collaborative Lifecycle App and demonstrates the actual application of these commands with the help of use cases.

Applicable Release: 3DEXPERIENCE R2019x and above.

Target audience: Designers and Administrators of 3DEXPERIENCE, CATIA, and ENOVIA.

8. Assembly Pattern and Drafting View Generation - Performance Tips

Large assembly patterns and drafting view generation are common processes used by several customers who work with large-scale products. This Best Practices document provides several tips to enhance performance while working with an assembly pattern and drafting view generation time. The different options and tricks that can enhance user performance, while creating and editing assembly patterns are explained using a use case in this document. The same use case is employed to discuss several options to enhance the view generation.

Applicable Release: 3DEXPERIENCE R2018x and later releases.

Target audience: Designers and reviewers, who deal with large assembly patterns and drafting on 3DEXPERIENCE.
