As we are nearing the end of the year, it’s a great time to have a relook at the important CATIA Best Practices published in 2021 that you might have missed in some of our promotions.
This is a comprehensive Bulletin of all the CATIA Best Practices published since January 2021 till date. Click on the Name of the Best Practice to download the document.
1. Managing Large Assemblies- Settings and Recommendations
Large assemblies affect the system performance and makes it difficult to visualize and manage data. This Best Practice document discusses the options and settings available on the
3DEXPERIENCE platform, which helps the user to optimize performance. The objective of this document is to gather information on handling large assemblies without hampering performance.
Target audience: Designers and reviewers, who works on large assemblies on 3DEXPERIENCE R2020x.
2. Relational Design in 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA
This document demonstrates the benefits of Relational Design in product development. Relational Design consists of Parts developed in the context of a higher-level Product with the use of links. This allows for quick design changes, since changes done on the higher-level assembly automatically propagate to the engineered sub-assemblies and parts.
Target audience: Engineers and Mechanical Designers
3. 3DEXPERIENCE R2020x CATSettings - Use and Recommendations
In 3DEXPERIENCE, customizations and interactions performed by the user are stored and remembered in the form of settings called the CATSettings. 3DEXPERIENCE fetches required information from its settings, which makes it convenient to use.
This Best Practices document provides information regarding Different types of settings and its use, How the CATSettings get generated and where they get stored, How to import and export settings, Compatibility of settings, Recommendations and so on
Target audience: Administrators and users of 3DEXPERIENCE platform R2020x
4. Customizing the Behavior of 3DEXPERIENCE Platform Using Business Logic
This document provides an overview of customization in 3DEXPERIENCE Platform using business rules, set of dedicated EKL (Enterprise Knowledge Language) API’s, business rules development tools, step-by-step case study with traces collection mechanism and troubleshooting section. The goal is to make customization by business rules user friendly for beginners and provide useful maps to the official documentation for deeper knowledge.
Target audience: This document is intended for people who are discovering customization using business rules in the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, such as Administrator, Tech Support Engineers, Customers/Partners, and Field Engineers.
5. Links Management in 3DEXPERIENCE Design and Engineering Applications
The management of Links and Relations is important to understand the relation between the components under a Tree Structure; how they are dependent on each other and how the change in one entity could impact the other entity. This Best Practices document covers the concepts of Link Foundation, commonly experienced Relations in Design/Engineering Applications, and the management of Links and Relations. The objective is to provide a consolidated document to help the users in identifying the Relations generated and managing them effectively.
Target audience: Tech Support Engineers, Customers/Partners, and Field Engineers.
6. Data Setup for Electrical Domain Apps
This Best Practices document provides an overview of Data Setup App specific to Electrical domain. It covers Resource Set creation, UI & basic features and deployment of Resource Set in Data Setup app. It also explains each resource from Electrical Resource Set and Common Resource Geometry set. The objective of this document is to make data setup for electrical app familiar and easy to use for the beginners.
Target audience: Designers working in Electrical Domain, Administrator, Tech Support Engineers, customers/partners, and Field Engineers.
We would be happy to receive your feedback as well as any suggestions on these Best Practices as well as on any New Topic that you want us to consider for Next Year.
Wish you happy reading!!
