As I already explained in a previous article, I had the opportunity to meet a few years ago French artist #Anilore Banon while she was presenting to Dassault Systèmes her marvelous VITAE Project.
An amazing scientific challenge for a wonderful humanist project in which I then decided to invest myself.
As a Aerospace mechanical engineer and a CATIA expert, I have collaborated (and continue to) in several areas:
- Work on defining the mains steps of the project with Anilore, from Earth to edge of Space and to the Moon …
- Help on the feasibility studies performed thanks to our Dassault Systèmes applications by the team
- Define the “best possible design” for Anilore VITAE piece of art by studying several options using CATIA applications
On this last topic, I started from Anilore’s sketches…
…and we exchanged a lot to finally get her dream design
Of course, Anilore uses what we have built together to showcase her project during all the events in which she is involved
But we also spent time on some other ideas and sub-projects :
- The CATIA model of VITAE was 3D printed for the first flight on the edge of Space, thanks to a weather balloon launched from Les Braves on Omaha Beach.
It was also the starting point of the VITAE launched in the ISS by SpaceX10 Falcon 9 rocket and tested by #Thomas Pesquet
- Anilore "used" this design to create « opened » versions of VITAE built in her atelier
- We developed a concept of an interactive (Earth based) version of VITAE to “capture” hands directly on the piece of art
- And finally we virtually put VITAE on the Moon thanks to our 3DEPERIENCE platform R2018x
If you think (as I do) that VITAE Project - A Million Handprints on a Lunar Sculpture is an amazing project, feel free to help us get VITAE on the Moon.
The best is to come. To the Moon….
