AIRWOLF, back to life thanks to 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA

Do you remember AIRWOLF ?

Airwolf is an action television serie centers on a Mach 1+ high-technology military helicopter, code-named Airwolf, and its crew.

It was created by Donald P. Bellisario and was produced over four seasons, running from January 22, 1984, until August 7, 1987.

I was (I am) a big fan of this serie, that's why I decided a few days ago to "re-create" Airwolf using our great 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA Mechanical and Shape Engineer role.

Bell 222

Airwolf has been created using a Bell 222 as a basis.

My first step was then to gather pictures from both this helicopter and its fictive military development and manage them in our 3DEXPERIENCE platfom.

Using simple 3 views picture and all the other pictures I have found "as inspiration", I was able to recreate the external shape of the Bell 222

I then added some details (doors, windows, etc..) and created the main rotor and the tail one, and a (simple) landing gear.

For fun, I created 2 different painting of this helicopter, a black and a red one.

Even if it's not "perfect" (I do not have exact drawings coming from Bell Helicopters...), I tried to reach a good level of details for the mechanical parts and assembly.

Airwolf

The last step (for today :-) ) was then for me to re-create Airwolf in 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA...

... and finally to insert it in real-time 3D Experiences to bring it back to live...
