A THEORETICAL ASSESSMENT OF THE STRUCTURE OF A LIQUID STORAGE TANK UNDER SEISMIC FORCES

Good Morning. I am a final year Masters Student from Heriot-Watt University currently working on my dissertation project titled "A THEORETICAL ASSESSMENT OF THE STRUCTURE OF A LIQUID STORAGE TANK UNDER SEISMIC FORCES" with the following objectives:

  1. Assessment of Current Theories (Housner, Preethi and Malhotra) regarding liquid-structure behaviour under seismic forces for petroleum-filled storage tanks using Finite Element Modelling and Finite Element Analysis.
  2. Finite element analysis and assessment of the failure mechanism of the liquid storage vessels under investigation being exposed to seismic forces.
  3. Recommend a suitable Base Isolation System for the scenario under investigation.

My aim is to use Abaqus in my modelling and analysis of the scenario. Can anyone offer any guidance on the modelling methodology or any available tutorials?
