3DEXPERIENCE R2018x_NewFunction [Civil Engineering]: Rebars on existing bars

Highlight is delivered as a new App Concrete Structures 3D Design to provide user the ability to create quickly and easily reinforcing bar layers (rebar) with respect to standard business rules.

Requirement origin

With the Rebar creation command it is possible to create a rebar layer keeping associativity with the concrete structure when Template profiles are selected. It means that if the concrete shape is changed, the rebar bed is modified accordingly. There was a need to have an associativity between rebar layers.

To address this requirement two new modes ‘Strap’ and ‘Mesh’ are provided in rebar creation command.

Using this modes user can create a new Rebar Layer based on other Layer(s). This will ensure associativity during rebar design not only with concrete surfaces but also between Rebar Layers.

What is offered & how it serves

The Rebar creation command has two modes ‘Strap’ and ‘Mesh’ for the user to define a bar profile on existing bar.

1: Rebar strap design

Using this modes user can create a rebar layer around an existing rebar layer in order to tie those bars.

2: Rebar mesh design

Using this modes user can create a new Rebar layer on another existing layer.

Rebar strap design:

In this type a new rebar layer embracing reinforcing bars is created, this new layer remains constrained on those bars.

Layer created can be frame stirrup or lacing.

Important characteristics that should be taken into account:

1.A Rebar rule concerning tying is that the radius (R) of the tying bar is always greater than the radius (r) of the tied bar

2.The reinforcing bars chosen for being tied can be from different rebar layer and bars can have several diameters.

Example of frames, stirrups and lacings that can be created using this mode:

If two bars are selected, a side must be given to distinguish which rebar shape must be generated. Following are the types of bars that can be generated:

A hook is created on each extremity of the new Rebar layer.

Both tied bars and tying layers are associative. If a tied bar is moved or changed, the tying layer will be updated accordingly.

Rebar mesh design

In this type a new rebar layer is created on another layer. This new layer can overlay the entire support layer or just a part of it.

Entire overlay: The new layer created lies on complete support rebar layer.

Partial overlay: The ‘Rebar on existing bars’ functionality enables to define an interval of bars to restrict the new layer span. In above picture, it has been requested from bar #1 to #6.

The ‘Rebar on existing bars’ functionality also enables to restrict the bars of the new layer on the support layer (see below picture).

This Functionality allows the user to change the lying side on the layer support.

Both rebar layers, support layer and lying layer, are associative. If the support layer is changed the overlying layer will be updated accordingly.
