Wheel making basics with IDX and Live rendering

Car Wheel making in IDX and rendering in the Live rendering app

Starting with the Curve network in IDX Icem Design Experience, with the help of Omni Curve, trace out the end-to-end edges from the sketch reference given by the designer.

  • Pie calculation is done to make the rim, e.g., 5 spokes divided into 360 degrees.
  • After getting the exact pie section, you do the detailing part, such as filleting, draft angle, and other checks.
  • Transform the CV (Control point) according to the design.
  • Using the Revolve command to rotate the Pie in 4 rotations to get a one complete rim.
  • Add the tyre as per requirement; use the OmniCurve to make the desired tyre shape (keep the tyre wall smooth)
  • Change the app to Live Rendering to see the model in Real time by rendering in the scene by setting the Camera angle, lighting, textures, and Ambient settings.
  • Finally, hit the render option for a high-quality render image wheel
