True value of patents

 

"Yesterday, there was a wall of Tesla patents in the lobby of our Palo Alto headquarters. That is no longer the case. They have been removed, in the spirit of the open source movement, for the advancement of electric vehicle technology."

In other words, it means that (from now on), anyone may use Tesla technology patents.

3D Printed car design challenge: the winners

Local Motors has announced the results of its first 3D Printed Car Design Challenge. The overall winner is Michele Anoé from Italy, who will have his concept printed in 3D at IMTS this September.A total of seven designs were selected as winning concepts among more than 200 entries submitted during the six-week challenge .

Taiwan wins the 3D printing world cup in Singapoure

It may seem like it these days (here in Italy more so, probably in Brazil too) but Football does not have a complete monopoly in the World Cup stakes. In fact a “3D Printing World Cup” just took place in Singapore and Taiwan won it.

Winsun 3D prints 10 houses in less than 24 hours

A Shanghai building company recently constructed a small community of partially 3D-printed houses in less than a day. Unlike DUS Architects' ongoing aims to completely 3D-print a canal house in Amsterdam however, the Chinese company WinSun Decoration Design Engineering Co. printed the basic components separately before assembling them on site.  3D Printed Fashion Revolution Continues

Apparently this year there is not only the Wolrd cup that attracts poeple in Brazil, there is also Sao Paulo Fashion week 2014.The newest collection of renowned Brazilian designer Pedro Lourenço, which debuted at São Paulo’s Fashion Week in April, featured some breathtaking 3D printed accessories. To design and fabricate these pieces, the designer and his team had the support of Stratasys and Brazilian partner, LWT.

Lourenço received the Prix d’Excellence Award de la Mode in the category of “Most Promising Young Talent” at Paris Fashion Week in October 2013. His next runway show will take place in Paris in October 2014.
