D-day Innovation day

Last Friday, on the French TV channel France 3, there was a great documentary on the D-Day. A documentary paying tribute to the engineers and other people who invented and enabled the marine assault on June 6th 1944 in Normandy.

Ford is testing new materials

Ford is testing new materials and technology on a Fusion-derived experimental car, which achieves a 25 percent weight reduction and showcases potential solutions for future models.

 

The Ford Lightweight Concept represents the latest phase of Ford’s research into developing sustainable technology solutions that are affordable for consumers and can be produced in large volumes across the product lineup.

You remember about SpeedBirds that came out a few years ago? Yes, this great book about aviation design. You know what ! Volume 2 is now available. Whereas volume 1 was focusing on the period 1913 to 1931 , volume 2 focuses on the period 1964 to the present.

CCS students design the Buick of the future

 

 

Buickl has recently launched a competition for students at Detroit’s College for Creative Studies, who were asked to shape their vision of what Buicks will look like in 2030.

More than a dozen of transportation designers have participated in the contest.

Baptiste Nelter, new head of design at Alinéa

Alinéa, one of the major French furniture retailer has a new Head of design. He used to work for Lafuma, and then joined Alinea as an industrial designer in 2010. After 4 years of experience within the company, he is now group chief for design and style.

Last Wednesday, on May 28th, around 115 people met for the 3rd edition of the CATIA Creative design and ICEM day in Torino, Italy.
