Can a non-modeler design a convertible sofa from scratch with CATIA?
That’s the challenge I gave myself — using only the tools in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
No CAD blueprint.
No 3D modeling background.
Just curiosity, some reference images from the web, and a big question:

In this project, I explored:
✔️ Imagine & Shape / Generative Shape Design for soft modeling
✔️ Part Design for the frame
✔️ Mechanical Systems Design for the sofa-bed kinematics
✔️ Visual Scripting for soft fabrics effect, stitching & patterns
✔️ Live Rendering & Ambience Studio for look & feel
✔️ Product Perception Experience for real-time and VR visualization
And no — it’s not 100% perfect 😉
I’m not a modeling expert, and that’s the point. I’ll probably review and improve it with pros later on.
