Crowdfunding the F1 of Smartphone

A good team put all together their great skills and went through a huge creative process to design the first device that converged smartphone and desktop PC. As named, The Ubuntu Edge, will dual-boot both the Ubuntu phone OS and Android, and switch into a fully integrated Ubuntu desktop PC.

And apparently people are really excited about the project. Within just under eight hours... some \\\$2 million in donations to the project have flooded in. It might be the fastest and most successful crowdfunding so far on Ubuntu Edge, a platform of crowdfunding dedicated to the mobile phone industry.

The making-process was carefully thought: from early concepts and sketches to 3D wireframes and a variety of test handsets. Specialist data artists have worked on the project. The screen has been conceived with graphics that change over time to reflect utilisation of the user of the phone. The inbox has been rethought so users can read and respond to texts, emails and social media posts in an instant.

What do you think about this project? Ambitious? Realistic? Feeling to get your hands on the future of converged computing ?! it's here
