Hello! This week we would like to introduce you Arthur Coudert, a community member and a team member of "b l e u". He did an amazing work and has exceptional designer skills. Here comes his story…
Hello Arthur, please introduce yourself to the community?
Hello, I’m Arthur Coudert, I’m 22 years old and I’m studying Industrial Design (specialization course in Automotive Design) at Strate College in France. I had the opportunity to join the CATIA Creative Design team at Dassault Systèmes for an internship last year. Then, I did an exchange program with the university College for creative studies of Detroit 'CCS' and now I’ve just end up my internship at the Nissan Studio in London.
You are the designer of ‘ b l e u ’ . Could you talk about it with a bit of a step back?
Indeed, I worked on this project. I wasn’t the only designer, b l e u is a collaborative innovation project. I was the only one to hold on the pencil but the choice of style resulted in the best teamwork. By stepping back and looked at the overall project again, I can affirm that it was a very enriching project for an intern. I had the chance to follow a project as a whole, from the first strokes of pen to very precise CATIA model. I’ve learnt a lot. Being fully integrated into the team, my job was directly used by the team of modelers. In order to meet the demands of the modeling team, I worked on the methodology to make it more effective and more relevant.
How did you learn CATIA Creative Design?
To be one hundred per cent honest with you, I didn’t know anything about CATIA before my internship. I joined the team as a designer, not as a modeler; therefore, they didn’t incite me to use CATIA tools. It was more from curiosity that I integrate CATIA Natural Sketch and Imagine & Shape to my creation process. I was kind of a guinea pig for CATIA Creative Design. I liked the fact that I was able to visualize in 3D, with only a few curves, very advanced phases of the project.
The dialogue established between traditional sketches designed on paper and 3D sketches attracted me a lot. And nowadays, I’m still using this working method.
What are your feelings about your collaboration with the CATIA Design Team?
As I said, I have been well welcome and integrated in the team. I wasn’t seen as an intern and I was very implicated in every stages of the project. Thus, a real proximity was set up. The atmosphere in the open space was always good and there is nothing more motivating and inspiring to do good work! It’s always fun to see them again!
And little final touch, could you say something surprising about you?
Huuummhh… When I’m drawing, I’m always listening to Claude François; Apparently, I pull my tongue while I’m drawing. I can’t really tell you if it’s true but some of the community member could confirmed it! What’s more? …Under the recommendations of a CATIA design member, I’m drinking every morning a big glass of peanut oil :)
Thanks Arthur for your time and all the best for what will come next!
