Hello, many people are asking me which 3D software I use to model my projects. I started my career learning Alias and IcemSurf but according to my opinion, Icem offers a much more dynamic modelling experience and a better understanding about surfacing.
Here you can see the GTO-R model in the Icem interface. In IcemSurf, design surfaces patch layout is composed of Bezier Surfaces (faced or not), they are not NURBS or B-Splines surfaces, meaning to have a total control of them.
In my earliest time, a very experimented designer told me: " Do not allow that the software take the control", meaning that whatever tooI will use, I must be able to transfer my ideas as I wish and not be slave of tools and commands that I can not control, this is the main reason why after more than fifteen years I am still using IcemSurf.
*Could it be that some "weird things" that we are seeing nowadays in cardesign could be because the machine took the control as many users and designers are "ab-using" of poly modelling and multi-span B-Splines surfaces without a proper surface knowledge and taking the easy way? Just thinking...
