Hi Community,
Just find this little exercise that I created on a seat design to explain the Hybrid Modeling approach. Why Hybrid, because we are combining to different modeling technology, one base on Subdivision and the other one on classical parametric approach.
The objective was to combine the flexibility of Imagine and Shape and power and accuracy of our well-known application Generative Shape Design.
Backrest is mostly done using Imagine & Shape and subdivision modeling technology
> I kept some Hard edge for controlling the radius with a parametric fillet:
I used a simple edge fillet, but fillet with control on the curvature, number of control points , segments and so on can be applied as well.
>For the lower part of the seat, I decided to divide the IMA mesh into several parts.
>Then, Generating the splitting surfaces
Below the result of splited surfaces with radius in the same time.
Time to play with the model
The result:
Do not hesitate to comments, ask questions or for more details. I will be happy to deep dive on some aspect that you feel important.
Cheers
