3DXcite, previously RTT, maker of Deltagen, the high end visualization tool for life-like 3D modeling, is hosting Excite USA 2014 on June 26th and 27th in Royal Oak, Michigan, USA.
At the event, 3DXcite will be showcasing different applications of high end visualization in marketplace, as well as the various solutions that work in tandem with high end visualization to deliver custom solutions to customers.
As a long standing Gold Software Partner with Dassault Systemes, and a partner with 3DXite, DCS is proud to be a part of this event. Teaming up with 3DXcite's visual experts, DCS's solutions for creating virtual product prototypes in a digital environment with manufacturing variation as well as operation and process variation will be shown with Deltagen's photo realistic rendering. In this way, companies have already saved on prototype costs by creating realistic, both visually and dimensionally, prototypes virtually instead of building actual prototypes or clay.
This digital testing is a key component of Perceived Quality as well. This is the process of testing the appearance of a product to make sure it reflects the quality and value of the product itself. Fluke match-ups of maximum specification qualities on aligned features can create gaps and spaces larger than designers anticipated, as well as creating functional issues. The best way to combat these possibilities is to create Perceived Quality tests, or Spec Studies, to determine how variation already built into the design might affect the appearance of the product.
There are many benefits to using high end visualization in addition to DCS Variation Analysis solutions.
Create Photo-Realistic Imagery
With the ability to automatically convert 3DCS materials to 3DXcite Deltagen materials, users can quickly produce photo-realistic images of their products. With the push of a button, your model exports from 3DCS into Deltagen for ray tracing and additional visual effects. Never remodel again!
Generate Interactive Perceived Quality Studies (Spec Studies)
Produce interactive flash presentations that let you toggle between views and tolerance specifications to see how your changes or modifications will affect your final design. Share your presentations with anyone as a flash based file that can be viewed on any flash capable device. Make sure your design objectives are clear, achievable and will not affect the perceived quality of your product early in the design phase.
Build Realistic Virtual Prototypes from Simulation Data (Virtual Prototype)
Run monte carlo simulations to build tens of thousands of your product virtually, and hone in any issues from part variation as well as process and operation variation. Find key contributors and then model specific builds as realistic prototypes to see how the variation affects the appearance of the product. Stop looking at nominal data, and see actual simulated builds. Make changes, rerun the simulation and see the difference. Find and fix warranty issues and non-conformance problems before building making any product at all.
These two methods of high end visualization, Virtual Prototyping and Spec Studies, may seem small, but as they relate to the design of the product and make changes before anything is produced, their overall impact on the product life cycle is enormous. It is important to note that changes done before production are relatively easy and inexpensive, but finding the same issues during manufacturing that are identified digitally during design is far more expensive and results in scrap, rework and warranty claims.
