Strong Improvements for Design and Technology at Schools in England !   

The Design Council and the founder of the #IncludeDesign campaign praise revisions to the national curriculum in order to modernise the way Design and Technology is taught in schools from September 2014.

Children will have access to 3D printers, laser cutters, robots and microprocessors in D&T classes. They will coding and solve practical computer problems at the age of 11, too. These changes will provide children with the skills needed to pursue a career in design, engineering and manufacturing, by giving them the practical experience needed.

Well, let's just say that this is a really good news for design industry !

Dita Von Teese on a 3D Printed Dress

 

 

 

 

The gown was designed by Michael Schmidt and Francis Bitonti and revealed at the the Ace Hotel in New York. Assembled from 17 pieces, dyed black, lacquered and adorned with over 13,000 Swarovski crystals the gown took in total three month to be created.

The dress reflects perfectly the personnality of Von Teese. Indeed, it was made to be an extension of her persona rendered through these futuristic means and voluminous sleeves.

LVMH Acquires Cashmere Clothier Loro Piana for \\\$2.6 Billion

 

A fringed scarf, \\\$4,195. A knitted jacket, \\\$28,995. A “St. Petersburg” coat, \\\$46,500.

These are the prices that customers of Loro Piana are willing to pay for the Italian fabric company’s fine wares. On Monday, a buyer agreed to pay billions for the company itself. 

LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the French luxury goods giant, agreed on Monday to pay 2 billion euros, or about \\\$2.6 billion, for an 80 percent stake in Loro Piana, adding a famous name to its portfolio of brands. The deal values the company, which is based in Quarona, Italy, at 2.7 billion euros.

The Largest Building in the World Opens in China

 

Chengdu's New Century Global Centre is latest symbol of China's economic is having a big and  impressive ambition!  New Century Global Centre, located in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province in southwestern China, is almost completed.

At 500 meters long, 400 meters wide and 100 meters high, Chinese officials are calling the 1.7 million square meter mega structure the largest freestanding building in the world, capable of housing 20 Sydney Opera houses and almost three times the size of the Pentagon in Washington. Wouaaaaah this is huge !

This is the mission: Copenhagen wants to become the cleanest city in Europe before 2015 !

The brand Vipp created the mega-bin by increasing eight-fold the size of the classic pedal bin. The aim is to remind residents that they should keep their city clean and green.

The Vipp bin giant respects the form and original materials to scale 8:1. It has a volume of 3800 liters and weighs 800 kg, distributed in a stainless steel lid from 100 kg to 400 kg body welded steel foot 200kg folded steel, 80 kg of milled rubber, a giant hinge machined aluminum pedal and an oversized logo.
