A short video illustrating "CATIA for Creative Designers" on the ideation & concept modeling phase to design a car side mirror.

As you know you can express creativity by sketching but, now, with Subdivision surface Modeling which is somehow similar to virtual Clay modeling you can also be creative directly in 3D.

CATIA for Creative Designers in V6 provides both ways; Sketching (with the new 3D Sketching tool called Natural Sketch) but also 3D Concept modeling with Imagine & Shape Subdivision surfaces.

This video illustrates a creative scenario where the creative designer wants to design & explore alternatives of a new side mirror with a virtual Clay modeling approach. He is working with an already existing 3D exact referential. An other interesting point is that at any time during his design ideation exploration he can add precision to the Subdiv model by adding CATIA Icem features like a styling fillet or Check the visual impact of the design with Interactive Rendering (Raytracing + Global Illumination).
