[CATIA Design Talk REPLAY] AURORA - Design for Live on Feb 8th at 10 AM CET

Last year in October, Dassault Systèmes and Arthur Mamou-Mani Architects installed AURORA at the Design Museum in London. AURORA is an artistic, semi-transparent cloud of 375 3D-printed, bio-sourced modules that welcomes visitors in the famous entrance during the exhibition of "waste Age - What Design can do".
Dried cactus fiber formed the initial idea behind the experimental module designs for the aurora installation by Dassault Systèmes’ Design Studio and Arthur Mamou-Mani. These needed to be capable of being 3D-printed, assembled and then crushed, melted, recycled and reformed as if a continuous, closed loop until it is composted back to earth. The collaborators’ quest for an alternative to fossil-based plastic led to PLA, a non-toxic and 100% recyclable thermoplastic derived from renewable resources, such as potato, wheat and corn starch.
The whole installation from its molecular level through the physical installation and its end-of-live, was designed on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform with xGenerative design, simulation, VR and virtual twin tools.
In this talk, we are taking a closer look on the process and discuss this with @NS from Dassault Systèmes.
