Brief
The brief was to produce a portfolio book of b l e u with renderings exclusively and directly produced with CATIA.
This portfolio book had a specific ratio 3:1, the needed resolution of the final images was 7200x2400.
We used CATIA Live Rendering where you can switch between interactive rendering when quality is required and real-time rendering when performance is needed. You can also render images in batch mode with the Background render. Of course you can add as many jobs as you want, even close CATIA and wait for the images to be rendered.
The design is now frozen, shape and materials are validated.
Camera
This is the result of the car in CATIA Live Rendering in a default environment:
To produce images, we need first to choose the right point of view:
Environment
Then we start working on the environment: background, lights, shadows, highlights, etc.
Here is a video where you can see some iterations on the environment used for the first shot:
For each point of view, a custom environment has been made to emphasize the rendering of the car.
This is the overview of the final environments for each shot:
You can download everything in the Content section.
You can appreciate the difference between a default environment and a custom one made for a specific point of view. Everything can be controlled to fit the design intent.
Configuration
In addition to custom environments, you can also add specific configurations of the car:

Results
13 images have been made for the portfolio book, let’s have a look at it from CATIA to the final compositing ready to be printed. All the renderings have been made in CATIA. The final compositing means adding 2D components and color adjustments for print issues.
