CATIA b l e u - Modeling & Visualization

Visualization is key in all the processes of design even in the early design / concept design phase when you want to see how your car will look like.

Having an integrated solution allow you to see your object as it will appear in real life even if it is not finished yet:

Another scenario is perceived quality on final surface. It is the equivalent of neons cage check at the end of the production line:

The scenario is simple.

Thanks to CATIA Live Rendering, modelers identifies a wrong highlight behavior because of surface default.

Thanks to the full integration, he can iterate and achieve the right surface quality !

CATIA b l e u - Color & Trim (Materials)

While Exterior designer & Class A modeler are working on the external shape of  the car, Color & Trim designer and Visualization expert are working on the different materials that will be used for the manufacturing of the car.

Close-up detailing the car materials:

Color & Trim designers collect new materials from manufacturer but also on special events such as Milan Furniture Fair.

Visualization experts develop virtual material library as close as possible to the real materials.

In Exterior you will find materials such as car paint, chroma, satinated metal, gum, lights, brakes textures:

You can get this Content 2013-07 | Materials here.

In Interior: plastics, leathers, chroma, anodized aluminum...

You can get the specific Content 2013-10 | Materials - colorful pack here.

You can even focus on fine tuning the materials, color for instance, using some color reference palette such as Pantone or RAL:

Here is a short video describing the process:

You can also do some Lighting test using emissive lights:

To had even more realism to your rendering you can put your object in the context of a real picture that's what we call "backplate".

It is used at the end of the video.

The resources are available here:
