On Sunday 25th of May, in the spring afternoon, the registered designers from major car makers visited the GIAYI Design Center in Anfu Road, Shanghai Puxi. Right after a refreshing little rain, powered by invigorating soft drinks and delicious French biscuits, armed with pencils and papers, they were ready to start the 3D Sketcher Club. All of them were sharing a common goal, to create the best 3D sketch and win an iPad mini.

This event, as much a party as a contest, was organized by three partners : DASSAULT SYSTEMES, the 3DEXPERIENCE Company, MentalDesign, the advanced Car Design school, and GIAYI, the Passionate Design Services company. After a short debrief and welcome in the inspiring GIAYI Garden, designers started to draw 2D sketches, then transformed into 3D by using the CATIA Application Natural Sketch. Coached by passionate students of MentalDesign, they all came up with incredible creations in such a short time!    

Of course there must be a chosen one. Ms. Fleur Pierre, GIAYI Design Director, Pr Ji, Mental Design founder and Mr Claude Bourbigot, Senior Manager in Dassault Systemes, the judges felt the pressure to decide who would be the best of the bests, following rigorous criteria and their earnest feelings. Designer Ludovic Joppe won the iPad Mini. And all the designers attending the workshop were awarded with a high-tech gift.

DASSAULT SYSTEMS will continue to hold this kind of design activities. We are all looking forward to meeting again and welcome designers and friends in the next 3D Sketcher Club.
