The movement of fabric over form is hard to design for and simulate. One aspect of this type of design is the need to work with a continuous surface. At PHI Cubed we investigate membrane architectural design with the subdivisions surface modeling of Catia’s Imagine and Shape to develop designs that are designed and developed using a continuous surface. We combine this wireframe modeling, structural modeling, parametric, and engineering template for duplication with automation, so no two structure needs to be alike. Of course, we drive the parameters and relationships that drive the change. The image below was rendered I-Ray, using live rendering.
