Chemical and Biological registration users might be interested in registering records by providing a hyperlink in an attribute field that would enable to user to link to a different registered entity or an external website. For example, they might like to take an attribute such as a cell line name and link to an external catalog.
In the current product, it is possible to store a link as an attribute value in ChemReg or BioReg (e.g., www.3ds.com, www.nih.gov) and also click on it to go to the respective site.
We can also add a link to a BioReg record in another environment, e.g.,
https://
However, the use of an anchor text is not allowed in our registration application and it will store it only as a simple text with no possibility of clicking on it and going to another web page.
Our Developers looked into this question recently and found that allowing an anchor text will lead to security vulnerability, e.g., allow an attacker to inject HTML code into web pages that are viewed by other users. As a result, this feature will not be implemented in the current product.
