The Desktop Connector Service 2021 SP1 installer fails if a previous installation in a non-standard installation directory already exists

If you installed an older version of the BIOVIA Desktop Connector Service into a non-standard directory (i.e. a directory different from c:\\Program Files (x86)\\BIOVIA\\DesktopConnectorService), and you want to upgrade that installation to Desktop Connector Service version 2021 SP1, the installer will not allow you to select the installation directory and will finally fail.

As a workaround, first make a backup copy of the 'web.config' file located in the 'api' subdirectory of your current Desktop Connector Service installation. Then uninstall the existing Desktop Connector Service installation. Now run the Desktop Connector Service Installer 2021 SP1; it will now allow you to select the installation directory and should finally finish successfully. Now restore the 'web.config' file you saved from the previous installation into the 'api' subdirectory of the new installation. Start the IIS Management Console and add the HTTPS port to the Bindings of the DesktopConnectorService site as directed in Chapter 5, section 'Configuring the Messaging Service to Run Over HTTPS' of the Desktop Connector Service Administration guide. Also set the SSL certificate in the same dialog. Finally restart the DesktopConnectorService site.
