Chemical and Biological Registration users might sometimes see the need to reactivate a retired lot OR retire an incorrectly created lot and create another one with the same lot number.
Note that these registration applications are not designed to support such actions due to the use of GEMS data store. When we retire a lot, it is not deleted from the database and it will remain as a historical record, and the registration schema includes a table that maintains the last identifier being created.
Users are advised by the registration product team against attempting any updates from the back-end to achieve the desired result because such a change could introduce database inconsistency. If needed, users can consider creating a new lot with the same information as the retired lot and use it OR edit an incorrectly created lot and save the changes.
