Monoclonal Registration: Need to close multiple Select ORF windows before getting to a valid Plasmid Lot ID

Biological Registration users will sometimes register records with a relationship definition, e.g., enter a Plasmid Lot ID in the Heavy Chain tab to select and populate the ORF before completing the registration. During this process, they will find that the “Select ORF” window will pop-up even before they finish typing the entire Lot ID.

For example: Consider a BioReg setup that has two plasmid records with Lot ID 7 and 727. The moment the user types 7 in the Plasmid Lot ID field in the Heavy Chain tab, the Select ORF window pops up showing one record. Since this is not the desired lot, the user clicks “Cancel” in the window and enters the next digit 2, and the entire Plasmid Lot ID field shows a red border line with a warning message “Unable to find lot” which is expected. Finally, the user enters the last digit 7 and the Select ORF window pops up again showing 2 records. The user selects one of the two and proceeds with successful registration.

BioReg users might find this intermediate pop-up behavior a bit annoying and they would like to finish typing the entire Lot ID, get the desired ORF data, and then proceed with the registration.

This issue was recently investigated by our BioReg Developers and it was fixed in the recent release BioReg 2022 SP1. Its Product Release Document says the following:

“REG-22281: When you enter a value in a Plasmid Lot ID attribute, you can now specify the full ID of the related lot before selecting the plasmid's ORF. A dialog no longer requests selection of the ORF as soon as you enter the first character in the Plasmid Lot ID field. Instead, you can enter the full value and then click the new ORF button to choose the open reading frame you require.”

Users are advised to upgrade to BioReg 2022 SP1 to get the fix for this issue.
