Chemical and Biological registration users will sometimes register records with file attachments. For example, the attachment could be a png, gif or jpeg file that represents a spectrum such as NMR, IR, UV-VIS, etc., or a circular or linear plasmid map. The users might be interested in displaying the image within the web client itself rather than clicking on the attachment link and displaying the image in a separate window.

Please note that this display of image within the registration web client is not possible in the current product. The registration product team recently looked into implementing this display feature and found that the issue is caused by the inability of some GEMS components to handle binary data correctly. After further discussions on this subject, the product team decided that this feature is too complex to implement in the current product. In view of this decision, users have to continue to click on the attachment link and display the image in a separate window.
