Direct: importSDfile utility imports data for unmapped fields

BIOVIA Direct includes an importSDfile utility and it is designed to read a file of molecule structures and their associated data, and store these records in an Oracle table.

While using this utility, users might sometimes use the -fields option to map attributes from the .sdf to their Oracle table. After import, they will find that this utility has imported data for unmapped fields too, i.e, if the sdfile has some field names that coincidentally match the column names in the Oracle table, the importSDfile utility imports that data, even though they were not included in the fields mapping file.

This is a known issue with this procedure and the BIOVIA Direct product team will look into it fixing it in a future release of the application.

In the meantime, users are requested to carefully review the sdfile contents, especially if the file comes from outside vendors/collaborators, and prepare the field mapping file correctly to avoid importing unwanted data into their Oracle table.
