Chemical Registration includes several salts in an out of the box installation and it also allows manual addition of custom salts by clicking on the Manage Salts and Solvents feature in the Actions panel of the Chemical Registration Home page.
However, users might be interested in adding several custom salts at the time of installation itself. To do this, users can follow the steps given below:
1. Create a backup of the default Chemical Registration Salts.sd file located in the "
2. Edit the Chemical Registration Salts.sd file and add custom salts by opening the file in a text editor (or using an application such as Insight for Excel). The salts SDfile contains data for CTAB, Name, Formula, and Short Name for each salt.
More details about these salt fields can be found in the section “Customizing Salts and Solvents” in ChemReg Installation guide, Chapter 2.
3. After completing the necessary additions to the salt definitions, save the file with the same name at the same Pipeline Pilot Server directory: "
4. Proceed with the installation of Chemical Registration and confirm that it is successful.
If additional missing salts are identified after Chemical Registration has been installed, these can be added using the Manage Salts and Solvents function in the home page.
Users are advised not to use the vocabularies function in the GEMS Metadata Editor web client.
