Chemical and Biological Registration: Message about registered applications inconsistency

After an upgrade or reinstall procedure, registration users will normally go to Pipeline Pilot Admin Portal > Reports > Foundation Applications page to confirm applications such as ChemReg, BioReg, Insight, and Search Browse are registered in Foundation Hub. If they are not registered, they can click on “Update Applications” in the same page to complete this step. Users can confirm this on the Hub-side too from Admin and Settings > Settings > Applications page.

This registration is necessary because Foundation Hub manages authentication and data such as users, groups, and permissions for several Pipeline Pilot applications. Although rare, the Foundation Applications page in Pipeline Pilot Admin Portal will sometimes show a message "Inconsistency: Application is not installed on this Server but registered with the Hub".

The main reason for this message could be the accidental removal of one or more of these packages from the application server running Pipeline Pilot, e.g., user attempting an upgrade of Pipeline Pilot, say from version 2023 to 2023 SP1, will uncheck the package in the “Select Product(s) to Install” window, click next, and proceed with the rest of the steps. This action will remove the unchecked package that previously existed on the server.

To resolve the problem, registration users need to reinstall the missing package(s), confirm that the installation is successful, and then check again in Pipeline Pilot Admin Portal > Reports > Foundation Applications page. If necessary, they can click on “Update Applications” in the same page to confirm successful registration.
